Joan Shupe Amburgey (87) entered into eternal peace with her Lord, Jesus Christ on April 26, 2025.  Joan was born August 23, 1937 in Norton, VA to the late William Franklin Shupe and Nina Jenkins Shupe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Gary Shupe and her grandson, Nathan Poe.

She is survived by her devoted husband Robert (Bob) Amburgey; daughters Melody Poe, Crystal Berry (Candace), and Julie Holladay (Andrew); grandchildren Derek Poe, Josh Knight (Danielle), Danielle Strickland (Jessica), Kameron Holladay; and great granddaughter Emery Johnson.  Family meant everything to her, including sisters-in-law, all her cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as very close lifelong friends.  

Joan enjoyed ceramics, watching sports (Atlanta Braves), and being with family. She enjoyed teaching Bible study to women in her younger years. She loved eagles, ladybugs, hummingbirds, and her cats.  Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.  

There will be a memorial service and celebration of life on Sunday, May 4th at 4 pm at her daughter's home 5141 Fish Hatchery Rd, Lexington, SC 29073.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org) in her memory.
