Mary Louise Witchey, 83, of Burghill, passed away Saturday morning, April 26, 2025, surrounded by family at home.

Mary was born December 14, 1941 in Sharon, the daughter of Arthur Howard Pettitt and Alma Hudspeth Pettitt.

She was a graduate of Hartford High School and attended two years of school for accounting.  She then worked for Parco Scientific in Vienna where she was the bookkeeper and accountant.

She married James T. Witchey on October 14, 1961.  He preceded her in death on November 12, 1995.

Mary was a member of the Hartford Community Church, the Opal Chapter #181 O.E.S., the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Moose.

She loved to be active.  She enjoyed bowling, NASCAR, camping, fishing, dancing and cruises.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Reece Hensley) Clem of Stephens City, Virginia; a son, Douglas  (Lynda Ann) Witchey of Burghill; Brian Sump of Greenville, whom she regarded as a son; three grandchildten, Kristen Fritch, Melinda Marks and Brittany (Anthony) Mancini; and four great- grandchildren, Tyler, Julianna, Cecilia and Dominic.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ronald Pettitt and her longtime companion, Ken Sump.

Friends and relatives may call at the Galloway-Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 St. Rt. 7, Hartford, OH  44424 on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

A service will be held at the end of Wednesday's calling hours by the Opal Chapter #181 O.E.S. at 6:45 p.m.

At noon on Thursday, the funeral service will be held with Pastor Gary Meikle officiating.

Burial will be in Hartford Township Cemetery.
