Ruth Marie Howell, age 89, of Maple Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, with family by her side.

Ruth was born in Long Beach, California, on October 27, 1935, the daughter of Gail and Lorene Foerch. She graduated from St. Johns High School, Class of 1953. On June 24, 1954, she married the love of her life, Horace “Sonny” Howell. They would have celebrated 71 years of marriage this June.

Ruth was known for her love of music, playing the violin, saxophone, and clarinet. She enjoyed volunteering, crafting, and traveling the country by car, with her favorite trip being along Route 66. Ruth was also a proud member of the Fowler VFW Post 3733 Ladies Auxiliary. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, knowing that one day she would be with God.

She is survived by her loving husband, Horace “Sonny” Howell; children, Cathy Howell, Michael Howell, Brian (Kristie) Howell, and Patty (Matt) Leach; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill (Ruth) Foerch, Butch Foerch, and Tom (Diann) Foerch; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her niece, Becky Stevens.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, 1 PM, at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel, 1500 Waterford Pkwy, St. Johns. Friends may visit the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 AM until the time of the service.
