Jossy Thomas
May 12, 1980 - April 26, 2025
Jossy Thomas departed this world too early, just shy of age 45 after a courageous battle with a devastating illness. Jossy faced this diagnosis with an unwavering spirit and remarkable grace, defying the odds for over a year while inspiring those around him with his resilience and positivity.
Jossy was born in Queens, New York, raised in Hicksville, New York, and lived in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Thomas. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Ushma, whose steadfast love was a beacon of hope throughout his journey, and their three cherished sons, Dean, Ryan, and Sean, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness, strength, and laughter. He also leaves behind his loving sister Marina, sister-in-law Krupa, and brothers-in-law Sal and Raj. His loving nieces and nephew, Bella, Samira, and Nikhil. And his loving father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rasesh and Daksha Shah.
Jossy was not only a devoted husband and father but also successful in the hedge fund industry as Head of Trading at QTrade Capital Partners, where his sharp mind and strategic vision earned him respect and admiration. Prior to QTrade Capital Partners, Jossy had an accomplished career at UBS Investment Bank in Quant Sales & Trading. Jossy graduated from NYU Stern School of Business with his MBA in Finance and Stony Brook University with his BS in Computer Science. Yet, his greatest achievements were found not in the boardrooms or offices, but in the hearts of those who knew him.
A pillar of his community, Jossy was well-loved by family and friends alike. His warm smile and infectious laughter could light up any room, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. As we remember Jossy, let us celebrate the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will forever guide us in our own battles, reminding us to cherish each moment, support one another, and face life with courage and conviction.
