Mary Louise Martin, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Born November 13, 1938, she was the daughter of farmers and business owners Aubrey Brooks Jackson and Tressie Lee Todd Jackson, was the 10th of 11 children, and was raised in Green Sea, SC.
Louise is survived by her devoted son Mike (Teresa) Hudson of Loris, SC, her grandson Brandon (Jessica) Parnell of Charlotte, NC, her granddaughters Laura Linsey of Charlotte, NC, Jennifer Boyd and LeAnn Hudson both of North Augusta, SC, her great-grandchildren Amara Boyd, Tristen Hill, Ale’k Lynch, Alivia and Axel Parnell and Jordan Parnell. She is also survived by her remaining brother, Brooks (Patricia) Jackson and her sister-in-law, Susie Jackson both of Green Sea. She also leaves behind a large extended family of adoring nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Tom Martin, her daughter Marcia Hudson Parnell, a granddaughter Amy Dianne Parnell, and a grandson Daniel Aubrey Parnell. She is also predeceased by her siblings Ruby Lee (Elwood) Dorman, Earl Foster Jackson (killed in WWII), Frank (Jean) Jackson, Bruce (Edna) Jackson, Lois (Bill) Summerford, Austin (Lois) Jackson, Flora Mae (Fred) Simmons, Jim (Arlene) Jackson, Eugene Jackson, and the father of her children, Monte Hudson.
Louise spent her childhood in Green Sea, enjoying her life on the family farm. She graduated from Green Sea High School in 1956 and furthered her career in Nurse’s training and Cosmetology. She spent much of her young adult life in Minnesota before moving back to the Green Sea and Tabor City area where she owned and operated the Western Auto store and later worked in the medical field.
Louise was a free spirit, enjoyed visiting her family and many friends, going to the beach, solving jigsaw puzzles and Word Searches, and making humorous comments on Facebook. Louise will always be remembered for her happy-go-lucky disposition and her infectious laughter, never failing to make those around her laugh and smile. A generous, kind person, she gained pleasure in sending cards, letters, and gifts to her loved ones. She loved her church, Green Sea Baptist, where she was a longtime member.
Louise is now at peace and reunited with her family and friends. A fun-loving person who saw joy and happiness in everyday life, she will be remembered for her kindness, her love for others, and her love of life.
A celebration of Louise’s life will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 3:00 PM in the Green Sea Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Green Sea Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
