Mark W. Darby Obituary

Mark W. Darby, age 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025. A lifelong resident of South Jersey, Mark spent much of his career in the IT field within the printing industry. Yet he was perhaps best known and fondly remembered by many as “The Pinball Doctor” - a masterful repair technician who spent over 50 years restoring vintage pinball machines and bringing joy to customers, friends, and fellow enthusiasts. His passion for the craft and his arcade businesses remained a true source of pride throughout his life.

Mark found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was a devoted fan of live music, classic cars, and proudly rooted for his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. More than anything, he cherished time spent with family and friends - especially the memories made with his grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness.

He is lovingly survived by his children, Matthew Darby (Rebecca) of Gibbstown and Michelle Darby (Christopher) of Marlton; his treasured grandchildren, Aidan, Evan, Gavin, Liam, and Elizabeth; his siblings, Charles Askin, Susan Fisler, and June Miller; and his loyal dog, Ava.

Mark was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cheryl Darby (née Heister), his parents, Myron and Ethel Darby, and his brother, Clifford Darby.

Mark’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and joy in the things he loved will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 9:00am to 11:00am at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street Mantua, NJ 08051. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, 11:00am, with burial to follow at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark's memory would be appreciated to The Parkinson's Research Foundation (PRF) mail to: 5969 Cattleridge Blvd, Suite 100, Sarasota, FL 34232, or online by clicking here.
