KATHERINE MARIE HANSBERRY Obituary

Katherine Marie Hansberry 82 of Bossier City, LA., formerly of Little Rock. Transitioned on April 23rd.

Reflections of Life~
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV
Katherine Marie Price Hansberry was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 7, 1942. She was the fourth child born to Albert Price and Mable Bozeman Price.

She was baptized at an early age at New Hebron Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. I.V. Mckenzie. Katherine then transitioned to Holy Cross Baptist Church under the leadership of I.V. McKenzie then Dr. Rev. William Easter, where she was a faithful member and energetic choir member until her health failed. Katherine was gifted with an anointed, melodious voice and loved to sing Praising God singing all over Arkansas in a quartet with her sisters and in the church choir. She and her sisters Betty and Mable Lee and several friends formed a group in the early 70’s called the “SENSATIONAL JOY TONES.” They also appeared on one of the local TV stations and recorded their first single. Katherine had several songs that she loved to sing, however one of her favorite songs was “Fix It Jesus.”

Katherine loved and cherished her family unconditionally. She loved spending her time with her children and grandchildren. There was never a time that she was around family and did not make either her children or one of her grandchildren sing.

She was extremely sweet to everyone, and she had a gift for making those she loved feel uniquely special. Katherine was a hard worker and worked at several skilled jobs.

She worked at the Highway Department, TeleType and Baptist Medical Center in Environment Services. Whatever her hands found to do, SHE DID IT WELL!

Katherine made her heavenly transition on Wednesday April 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mable Price, her sisters, Mable Lee, Betty, Lula Mae, Virgina Lee and her brother, Albert Price Jr.

Katherine leaves to cherish her memories three daughters Kathy Vann of North Little Rock, AR, Debra Williams of Jacksonville, AR and Tamica Smith (Melvin Smith Sr.) of Bossier City, LA. Four sons, Dennis Cook (Janice Cook), Reginald Williams (Diane Williams), Johnny Williams of Little Rock, AR, and Donnell Brooks (Lori Brooks) of Fayetteville, AR. One brother, Willie Price of Little Rock. 18 grandchildren. 26 Great Grands and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Special Sister, Mary Helen Abraham. Special Daughter, Quenita Harris and a bonus son, Sherman White.

Katherine’s life was the influence of a beautiful rose, and her influence will forever live on through those lives she touched. A crown studded with sparkling jewels of golden deeds rests upon her head. She had a quiet manner, an adorable personality, and she was pleasant towards everyone she met.

She will be greatly missed, but this is God’s way, and his will must be done.
