Anne Bergstrom Neblett Obituary

Anne Neblett, a radiant soul whose kindness and warmth touched countless lives, passed away peacefully on April 23rd, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and connection that will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew her.

Born on February 22, 1939, in Los Angeles, California, Anne grew up in the vibrant community of Brentwood alongside her parents, George Edwin Bergstrom II and Alice Louise Days Bergstrom, and her brother, George Edwin Bergstrom III. At 15, her family sought a quieter life, moving to the serene landscapes of Paradise Valley, Arizona.

A bright and determined student, Anne graduated from Scottsdale High School and then attended Scripps College. Fall semester of her sophomore year, she became ill with mono, which caused her to miss the remainder of the semester. She was enthusiastic to return to college in the Spring, but Scripps did not allow single-semester enrollments.  Undeterred, she made the decision to transfer to the University of Arizona, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1961. It was there that she met the love of her life, William Parkes (Bill) Neblett, whose heart she captured with her infectious smile and limitless kindness. On August 12, 1961, Anne and Bill married in Scottsdale, embarking on a 63-year journey of unwavering love.

Soon after their wedding, Anne and Bill made their home in Dallas where Anne pursued a master’s degree in psychology at Southern Methodist University while also working within the psychology department.

Anne’s greatest joy came in motherhood, as she poured her heart into raising her two children, Randy and Nancy. Her nurturing spirit created a home filled with love. Through the years, in addition to being a mother, Anne worked part-time at Jim Quist & Associates at the Dallas Apparel Market.  She enjoyed this time, and her warmth endeared her to colleagues and customers.

In 1999, Anne and Bill moved to Tucson, Arizona, as Bill’s career followed the sale of Texas Instruments defense division to Raytheon Missile Systems. After Bill’s retirement 12 years later, they returned to Dallas, once again surrounded by family and dear friends. Here Anne enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and making new ones.  She also enjoyed traveling the world with Bill and particularly enjoyed the friendships that were made along the way.

Anne’s life was a tapestry of connection and service. Known affectionately as “Sweet Anne,” she had a rare gift for making everyone feel seen and cherished, forging friendships with ease wherever she went. Her thoughtful gestures—a listening ear, a kind note, a warm embrace, or even a “like” on social media—left an indelible mark. Always ready to serve, Anne led with grace as President of the Spring Creek Elementary PTA, President of the Raytheon Wives Club, Prestonwood Community Club, Northwood Women’s Club, Travel Club, Chapter 11 Book Club, Gourmet Club, and Mahjong Group.

Anne was at one time an enthusiastic tennis player, a dedicated gardener, an avid reader, and a devoted sports fan, rarely missing a Dallas Mavericks game, Cowboys game, or pro golf tournament. Her faith anchored her, as she and Bill were long-time active members of Park Cities Baptist Church, and later became devoted followers of Reverend Paul Rasmussen’s sermons at Highland Park United Methodist Church.

Above all, Anne’s heart belonged to her family. She cherished her role as “Gram” to her beloved granddaughters, Emma and Caroline, whose close bond with her was a source of endless joy and pride. Even as her health faltered, Anne’s love for her family gave her strength, her spirit undimmed.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Bill Neblett; her son Randy Neblett and daughter-in-law Pam Neblett; her daughter Nancy Neblett Medlin and son-in-law Royce Medlin; her granddaughters, Emma and Caroline Medlin, and many relatives including nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply and who will carry her love forward.

Anne’s spirit of love, grace, and connection will live on, a gentle light in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

A memorial service to celebrate Anne’s beautiful life will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Highland Park United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church or the charity of choice.
