Larry Eugene Russell, affectionately known as “Gramps” to his grandchildren, 75, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Troy, officiated by Pastor Nick Allen and Dr. Dwight Croy. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service. Casual dress is requested by the family for both services.

Born November 6, 1949, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late James Aaron and Doris Hunsucker Russell.

 Larry was a Correctional officer for the state of North Carolina. He liked wood working and leather working.  He was the jack of all trades and loved fixing things. He also loved family get togethers.

 He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Davis Russell, of the home; daughters, Lauri Russell of Star and Marsha Chambers (Shun) of Troy; grandchildren, Breanna Hill (Marque Chandler), Austin Hill and Camden Hill, all of Star and Shun Chambers, Jr., of Troy; great grandchildren, Prince Chandler, Rayden Chandler, Kayden Chandler, and Jaxon Chandler, all of Star; and brother, Rayvon Russell.
