Manny was born in 1930 to Manuel and Maria. He had one brother Joseph, all who have been gone many years. He served in the Korean War as a supply specialist and was stationed in Alaska. He was discharged from the army when his father got sick and he had to come home to support and care for his parents and younger brother. I recently found dad’s resume and learned that he sold vacuums and encyclopedias in the early years but for sure his true calling in life was to be the Merry Mailman of Port Jefferson. He also loved working outdoors so much he wanted to be buried in overalls.
Mom and dad met on a blind date and were married for almost 68 years. They had 6 children, 4 son-in-laws, 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, with 3 on the way. There was nothing Nanny and Baba enjoyed more than spending time with their family, especially at Blueberry Heaven.
