Donna Lynn Garnett, known affectionately as Donna to her friends and family, passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on August 31, 1951, in San Antonio, TX, Donna spent her final moments surrounded by the love of her family in Corsicana, TX, succumbing to heart failure after a lifetime of generosity and joy.
Donna was the loving wife of the late Donald Garnett and a devoted mother to her children. Though her son Chris Garnett preceded her in death, her legacy continues through her daughter Darci Dodd-Murty, and her sons Darren, accompanied by his wife Mandi, Donnie and his wife Mackenzie, and Daniel with his wife Jenn. Donna's effervescent spirit lives on in the hearts of her cherished grandchildren: Morgan Shannon, Marissa Puckett, Mia Prudom, and Andrew Prudom.
With a sharp mind and a knack for numbers, Donna earned an Associate's Degree in Accounting and dedicated 35 years of service to the federal government as a GS13 in Financial Management. Her intelligence and creativity not only shone through her professional endeavors but also enriched her personal passions.
An animal lover at her core, Donna found immense joy in rescuing dogs and nurturing all creatures great and small. Her garden was a testament to her love for the natural world, a sanctuary where birds could gather and the beauty of life was cultivated with care. Donna's culinary skills were unmatched, and her family and friends will fondly remember the warmth and laughter that filled her kitchen as she cooked.
Donna's talents extended beyond the kitchen and the garden; her hands were skilled in the art of woodworking. In her shop, she crafted amazing wood furniture, each piece a reflection of her creative spirit and attention to detail. A voracious reader, Donna could often be found lost in the pages of a good book, traveling to distant lands and times through the power of storytelling.
Intelligent, creative, and loving—these words only begin to capture the essence of Donna. She was a beacon of light and strength for her family, a friend to many, and a stranger to none. Her ability to love unconditionally and her unwavering support of those she held dear are the hallmarks of her beautiful life.
Donna's impact on the world was profound and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and a life well-lived, inspiring those who loved her to carry on her spirit of kindness and compassion.
As the sun sets on a life so vibrantly lived, we bid farewell to Donna Lynn Garnett, a remarkable woman whose memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace, knowing that her life was a testament to the beauty and resilience of the human spirit.
