Georgia Ann Sherlin Obituary

Georgia Sherlin, 86, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and sister passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 26, 2025 at her Fletcher North Carolina home.


Born in Burnsville, North Carolina on February 4, 1939. She is preceded in death by her lifelong love, James Oscar Sherlin, infant daughter Kimberly Ann Sherlin, parents Cheet and Texie Holcombe. Brothers Lester, Liston, and Charles Holcombe. Sisters, Eloise Austin, Jenny Penland, and Mildred Haas.


She is survived by a sister, Grace Deweese, and her three daughters Debbie Smith (Cecil), Vickie Deitz (Kenny) and Diane Sherlin (Michael). Grandchildren, Melissa Hewlett (Chris), Brittany McKinney (Matthew), Bryan Deitz (Lyndsey), Brandon Deitz (Shelby) and James Sherlin (Jenna). Great-grandchildren Shaleah Jackson, Ian Burrell (Hannah), Trent Burrell, Christian Burrell, Peyton Deitz and Carter Deitz, as well as many nephews and nieces.


Georgia was the matriarch of the family, a strong, independent woman with a great sense of humor who loved animals, cooking, gardening. She loved music and could spend hours telling the funniest stories. She was very loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her but we know we will see her again.

A visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 5th in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Hendersonville, North Carolina with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Greg Dixon officiating.
