John Fredrick Kay Obituary

John Fredrick Kay, age 35, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Born in Hackettstown, NJ, he was a lifelong resident of Stanhope. John worked alongside his father doing construction work. He loved skateboarding, enjoyed gaming and above all loved spending time with his family.

John was a loyal, kind, funny, and hardworking soul. He had a way of lighting up a room with just a look or a line, and he never failed to make you laugh-even when you didn't't think you could. His humor wasn't't just wit-it was a lifeline, a way of reaching people, disarming them, and making them feel safe and seen.

He had a passion for the things that brought him joy and peace: music, especially playing guitar; deep conversations about movies and meaning; the quiet focus of golf and fishing; the nostalgia and thrill of vintage games; and nurturing life through horticulture. He wasn't't just into things-he felt them. He saw the beauty in small details, whether it was a perfect chord progression or a sprouting plant.

John also had a deeply spiritual side. He wasn't't loud about it, but he explored the mysteries of life with a quiet curiosity, always seeking deeper understanding.

More than anything, John had a unique gift: he could make anyone feel welcome. Whether it was a stranger at a party or someone going through hell, he knew how to put people at ease. He carried love in his presence. People naturally gravitated toward him-not because he demanded attention, but because he earned it with his warmth and realness.

He fought battles that most couldn't't see. He faced hardships that would've broken others. But even in those darkest times, John's light never stopped shining. He kept showing up for the people he loved. And that love-quiet, fierce, unconditional-is what defined him most.

John will be remembered for his huge heart, his steady loyalty, and the joy he brought into people's lives. To know him was to feel safe, to laugh harder, and to be reminded that no matter how hard things got, you were never alone

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Ronald and Judith Loubet Sr., and John Richard and Doris Kay Sr.

He is survived by his loving parents: Jean Louise and John Richard Kay Jr.; his siblings: Jeffrey Cannon and Jacqueline Kay; his aunts and uncles: Sandy Freda, Chris Freda, Robert Shaw, Cindy Mongrella, Ronald Loubet, Gloria Loubet, Jay Kay, Kim Kay, Tina Heater (Robert), Nancy Scalley (Steve), many dear cousins, and his lifelong best friend, Murph.
