Maxine B. Lane Obituary

Maxine Miller Leming Lane was born on December 24th, 1936. She was sent to be with her Savior on Wednesday April 23rd, 2025. Maxine was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Herbert and Edith Miller, two sisters Kathryn Dayhoff and Mildred Doxen, brother, Dayton Miller, spouses, Johnnie E. Leming and Allan R. Lane, stepdaughter, Jennifer Jones, and step grandson, Jonathan Jones.

Maxine was born in Armuchee, Georgia, where she lived her life as a cherished member of the community. She was very strong in her faith. As an active member of the New Armuchee Baptist Church, she was a beacon of light and hope, as she touched many lives with her kindness and giving.

She began her career at Inland Rome when she was 18. Enjoying a lifelong career at Inland, Maxine worked in the accounting department and subsequently retired with many accolades after 40 years of service. To her coworkers, she was the “pizza eating Queen”. When a member of her team challenged her to a pizza eating contest, he was surprised that he lost, as Maxine ate 19 slices in one sitting. Thus, her work family adored her and the jovial spirit that she always brought to her office.

Maxine was an absolute animal lover. She cherished her four-legged companions throughout her life. She had many. All rescues, her pets included PC, TC, Tux, Sam, Bama, Christy, Peanut, Foxy, Faith, Freckles, Callie, and her beloved kitty Lulu. She made their lives heavenly, and they brought her so much joy.

Her love and devotion for her family was special. To those closest to her, she was the strongest and most compassionate of women; everyone will remember her infectious smile, wonderful sense of humor, deep-rooted faith in Jesus, and her unwavering commitment to spreading love to others.

As a wonderful Grandmother, she cared for the children many times, providing them with love and amazing cooking, which resulted in making their mother’s sandwich’s subpar in comparison! Maxine took much happiness in spoiling her entire family with all her vittles. She was a mother to her stepdaughter for 35 years and spoiled her rotten too.

Maxine’s passions also included her love of flowers and gardening, as she enjoyed creating the most beautiful yard every spring. Gardening was her therapy. She was an avid sports fan of the Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs, and Atlanta Falcons. Maxine found great joy in rooting for her sports teams, as she attended many games with family & friends. “Go Braves!”, as Maxine would love to cheer.

Maxine is survived by a very special niece, Theresa Hanrahan (Matthew); a very special nephew, Martin Dayhoff (Karen); stepdaughter, Leslie Lane Baird (Jeff); stepson, Steven Lane (Tammy); step-granddaughter, Caitlin Wright; three step grandsons, Chance Wright, Micheal Allan Jones (Rai), and Christopher Lane; two step-great granddaughters Leilah Anne Jones and Lyana Noori Jones, and step-great grandson Brantly Wright; cousins Linda Manis, JoAnn Kerns, and Glenda Fincher; and several other nieces and nephews, and a very special long-time caregiver and dear friend, Cathy Arthur.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Dr. David Howard and Dr. Lamar Barden officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens
