Mrs. Sarah Ann Gales Obituary

Reflections on Her Journey

Sarah Ann Gales was born on August 7, 1946, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was the oldest of four children born to Lee Anna Hill and Calvin Roland Sr. She had 13 brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Martha Lee, Carolyn Sue, and Johnnie Ann.

As a child, she moved with her family to Los Angeles, California, where she graduated from George Washington High School. After moving to St. Louis, Missouri, she met the love of her life, Ellis Gales, Sr. They got married in 1973, and she gave birth to her son Ellis Gales, Jr. in 1975.

Sarah worked as an optician for well over 30 years. She was also active in the church and loved to sing in the choir in addition to singing gospel songs throughout the day. She joined Church on the Rock in St. Peters, Missouri, in 1997, where she continued her passion of singing for the Lord.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Ellis Jr., stepchildren, Michelle, Ella and Barry; grandchildren, Ellis III (Tre) and Lorenzo (Leo); siblings, Calvin Jr., Sherman, Bessie, Celestine, Linda, Eugene, Richard, Demetrius, Rosemary, and Cynthia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
