Joseph Aaron Barker, 43 passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in care of Cedar Valley Hospice, Oelwein, Iowa.

Joseph was born July 21, 1981, in West Union, Iowa, to Pearly Elaine Barker (Sargent) and Joseph Paul Sargent. Joseph grew up in Oelwein, Iowa and he received his GED from Calmar, Iowa. He enjoyed fixing and working on cars and motorcycles, fishing, his family, animals and playing guitar. Joseph lived Life exactly the way he wanted. Everything about Joseph was large and out loud. From his heart to his actions. Joseph was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in 2022 after a major heart attack, which resulted in a 5-way bypass. He decided to travel the United States and then move to Kentucky to be with his sister, Linda Roland. He was surrounded in Life by many who love him. He had touched so many lives with the love that he gave to the world.

Joesph is survived by his sister, Linda (Randall) Roland of Lexington, Kentucky, his father Joseph Sargent of Jonesborough, Tennessee, his half brother Kaleb Sargent of Tennessee, half-sister Valairie Schaedel of Florida, step-mother, Annnette Barker, step sisters; Jennifer (Jordon Nielsen) Dewolf, and Sarah (Samuel) Melver, step brother, Brian Johnson, his nieces; Bradleigh Stelter, Destiney DuCharme, Monica Grimm, Melanie Gibbs, Megghan Recker, Melinda Brockington, and his nephew, Randy Lee DuCharme III, great niece, Evelyn DuCharme and great nephew, River Berry.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl Elaine Moore (Barker), adoptive dad David Barker, step sister, Julie Evans, and a niece, Alexandra Benson.

A Celebration Of Life will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 1-4 PM at Fontana Park (main pavilion). Fishing is available, along with games. Some main dishes and water bottles will be provided. Pot luck style, please bring a dish and help celebrate the Life of Joseph.
