Emmett Lee Beasley, affectionately known as Skeet, was a beacon of joy and generosity in the community of Newnan, Georgia. Born on August 2, 1949, to the late William Geter and Christine(Beasley) Owens, Skeet was a shining example of kindness and spirited enthusiasm throughout his life. On April 23, 2025, he completed his earthly journey and embarked on eternal life, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Skeet grew up in the Greentop area of Coweta County, where his passion for basketball led him to play on a family team known as "The Apollos." His love for the game was only matched by his dedication to his work at Holder Construction Company, where he was revered for over 20 years as a faithful and committed employee. Even after retirement, Skeet's influence could still be felt through the strong bonds he formed and the respect he earned from both colleagues and management.
Beyond his professional life, Skeet was a vibrant member of The Zodiac Men’s Club, where he engaged in community activities and shared his boundless energy with others. His interests were many, but nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his beloved family and friends. Skeet was the life of the party, always ready to share a laugh, a dance, or a kind word. Whether he was out fishing or cheering on his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, he did so with a contagious enthusiasm that uplifted everyone around him.
Emmett "Skeet" Beasley was a man who never hesitated to extend a helping hand. His generosity of spirit was evident in every aspect of his life, touching the hearts of his children Tina (James) Fort, Emmett (Sierra) Beasley, Dexter(Audrey) Smith, Eric Smith, Emmett Smith, Tivoris ( Ratoya) Smith, Christina(Alexis) Smith, and his dear aunt Annie (Beasley) Coleman, His siblings, Eloise( Eddie) Person, Willie Lee (Debra) Geter, Paul(Angela) Geter, Randy(Sandra) Geter, Mike(Audrey) Geter, John(Barbara) Geter, Clarence (Tomeka) Geter, Cynthia Ann Geter, Floretine Amey, Wanda(Lindell) Spear, Katie (Jimmy) Glover, and Beverly( Kevin ) Cheaves, as well 50 grandkids, 20 great grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, will forever hold Skeet's memory in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ronald "Runt" Geter, and sister Carolyn Geter and his beloved uncle and best friend Johnny Beasley.
As we celebrate the life of a man who was the very embodiment of generosity and kindness, let us remember the words of Helen Keller: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart."
