Marlene C. Baumgartner, 92, of Asbury, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Hawkeye Care Center in Asbury.


The Mass of Christian Burial for Marlene will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church with Father David Schatz as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.


Marlene was born March 15, 1933, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Albert and Dorothy (Bertsch) Cady. On October 11, 1958, she married John Baumgartner at St. Columbkille Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2013.


Marlene was employed at the former Dubuque Packing Company for 44 years and later owned Dubuque Dance Studio for ten years.


Marlene was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church. She loved working with her hands, whether it be working in the garden or cooking and baking up goodies. Marlene enjoyed spending time with her family.


Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Hodges of Richmond, TX; one brother, John (Penny) Cady of Rock Island, IL; six siblings-in-law, Karen Cady, Margaret Koch, Richard Baumgartner, Theresa Torrey, Eileen Deutsch, and Roger Shaw; and numerous nieces and nephews, even great and great-great nieces and nephews.


Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Earl (Shirley) Cady, Sally (Ed) Alber, Priscilla (Ed) Bartella, Gloria (Ray) Jacobs, Imelda (Earl) Meyers Fred (Judy) Cady, and Elwyn Cady; and siblings-in-law, Chuck Koch, Mary Baumgartner, Donald Torrey, Robert Baumgartner, Ruth Baumgartner, Wayne Deutsch, Rita Shaw, and Ed (Sherri) Baumgartner.


Memorials may be given to St. Columbkille Catholic Church.


The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Sylvia Blaser and Lisa and Mark McGranahan for everything they did for Marlene. As well as, Hospice of Dubuque and Hawkeye Care Center for their compassionate care.
