Heather Dawn Griffith
On Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025, in the early morning hours, our most precious Heather Dawn Griffith passed peacefully into eternity. She had fought a long and hard battle with cancer since 2022. Heather was only 50 years old.
The first of two children, Heather was born on March 15th, 1975 in Beckley. She was the daughter of Melinda Webb Griffith and the late Charles Elliott "Duke" Griffith who passed on October 13th, 2015. Her brother, Scott passed away tragically on December 14th, 2002 in a car accident.
A resident of Beckley the past 11 years, Heather grew up in Fairdale. She was a graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1993. She had attended Eccles First Baptist Church. Heather will be remembered for her sweet spirit. She had an immensely high work ethic and continued to work until the past month even though she struggled so with her illness. For the past nine years she has been employed at Appalachian Regional Hospital Medical Mall.
In addition to her father, Duke and her brother, Scott, Heather was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Layden and Nettie Griffith and her maternal grandparents, James Leonard and Twila Webb; an aunt, Vickie Dickens and a first cousin Jeremey.
In addition to her mother, Melinda, Heather was blessed with a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins who all been such a part of the life. We would be remiss not to remember Stella, her Yorki Pooh and her "Work Husband," D.J. Hale whom was her best friend, confidant and all round side kick. Melinda would laughingly say, DJ knew Heather better than I did..
Heather is at peace and although we are so heartbroken to give her up, we were blessed to have her in our lives. She will be remembered, and now, "Oh Glad Reunion on the Other Side."
This Saturday, April 26th we will honor our sweet Heather with a "Service of Remembrance" in the Melton Mortuary Chapel at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Garry Hall will be officiating. The family will receive friends at 12 noon. Heather will be laid to rest beside Duke and Scott in the Calloway Cemetery at Glen Daniel. Her grandparents Webb and great grandparents rest nearby as well.
The honor of carrying Heather has been given to Keith and Chris Stone, Brian Southern, Shawn Pennington, Chad Adams, Zachary Griffith, Daniel Dickens and D.J. Hale.
The family would also like to acknowledge The Bowers Hospice House, Dr. Barrett-Campbell and her Physician's assistant, Kristen. God Bless everyone who has been so kind and helpful during Heather's journey.
