In Loving Memory of Richard "Rick" Westbrook – The Heart of Bayville
January 13, 1969 – April 23, 2025
With family & friends by his side, Richard "Rick" Westbrook peacefully passed into the arms of the Lord on April 23, 2025. Born in Fort Ord, Monterey, California, on January 13, 1969, Rick was the beloved son of Richard Westbrook and Diane Carroll Westbrook.
For 29 remarkable years, Rick was the beating heart of Bayville—more than a colleague or friend, he was family to all who were part of that cherished community. His devotion to the members, staff, and the game of golf shaped the soul of Bayville and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Rick was a man of boundless warmth, known for his signature smile, perfectly timed humor, and hugs that felt like home. He was the kind of person who lit up a room just by walking into it—bringing joy, laughter, and love to everyone around him.
He is survived by his loving parents, Richard and Diane Westbrook; and his siblings: Christopher Westbrook (Barbara), Suzanne Iyer (Ramesh), Elizabeth Shaulis (Euey), Melissa Edelheit (Donald), Jeffrey Westbrook (Sarah), and Patricia Longobardi (Scott); many cousins, nieces and nephews. Rick is also survived by a vast family of friends, especially his devoted care team and closest companions: Chris and Stephanie Lyon and their girls, Scott Lyons, Doug and Cindy Haisllip, Danielle Miller and her girls, Mark Dungan, Doyle Palmer, and Heather Robinson—whose love and loyalty were a constant light in his life.
A special thank you goes to his compassionate care team—Moreen, T, and Calista—whose presence brought comfort and kindness in the most difficult times. The family also extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Virginia Gentleman Foundation for their unwavering support throughout Rick’s journey.
Rick faced ALS with incredible courage and resilience. Though the disease may have taken much, it never touched his vibrant spirit. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering strength—a legacy that continues to inspire all who knew him and all who are touched by ALS.
