Agnes Chisvetti Obituary

Agnes Chisvetti, 85, of Colonia passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving daughter Diana and friends on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

Born in Newark, Agnes moved to Colonia in 1972 where she became a devoted parishioner of St. John Vianney RC Church. For over 10 years, she served her community as a crossing guard for Woodbridge Township, ensuring the safety of local children.

Agnes was known for her vibrant personality and unforgettable sense of humor. She proudly wore a necklace with the number "32" on it, and when asked about its significance, she would mischievously reply that it was her bust size. Her characteristic greeting when asked how she was doing – a frank "shitty" – never failed to bring smiles to those who knew and loved her candor.

Behind her humor was a loving, caring person who would do anything for anyone, especially her family. She was a great champion of her children, supporting them through every challenge and celebrating every victory. She was special, deeply loved, and irreplaceable. Nothing got past Agnes in her beloved Colonia community. She kept a watchful eye on neighborhood happenings and was always in the know about local events. Even her doctors remembered her fondly after her husband's passing, inquiring about "the funny lady" who had left such an impression on them.

Agnes had a zest for life and was always ready for adventure. She enjoyed playing Bingo, attending concerts, and trying her luck in Atlantic City. As those who knew her would say, Agnes was always up for a good time.

She was predeceased by her husband Carmen "Babe" (2023), son Dominick (1992), brother Walter Kois (2019), sister-in-law Amy Kois, and her parents Sophie Wlasuk (2003) and Fred Lang.

She is survived by her daughter Diana of Rahway; son Anthony and his wife Rebecca of Brandon; sister-in-law Carole of Newark; nephews Ben and his wife Ellen of Newark and Carmen and his wife Debra of Staten Island, NY; and many cherished friends who will miss her spirited nature.

The funeral will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 10:15 am from the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 1225 Green St. in Iselin followed by an 11 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Vianney RC Church, Colonia. Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 3-7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to share a funny story or fond memory of Agnes at the visitation, as laughter was always her favorite gift.
