Stacey Lynn Dekun Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stacey Lynn Dekun, who left us far too soon on April 23, 2025, following a sudden illness. Born on January 9, 1986, in Warren, Michigan, Stacey was the beloved daughter of Richard Ruggs and Pamela (nee Hanback) Kurzatkowski. Her life was a shining example of compassion, dedication, and joy.

Stacey devoted her career to making a difference in the lives of others. Through her work at Creative Employment Opportunities, she helped teach life skills to individuals with special needs, offering not only guidance but deep kindness and understanding. Her impact on those she served—and their families—was immeasurable.

On June 20, 2022, Stacey married the love of her life, Michael Dekun, in a beautiful ceremony at Golden Hawk Golf Club in Casco, Michigan. Their bond was one of true companionship, laughter, and unwavering love.

A nature enthusiast at heart, Stacey found peace and happiness outdoors. She loved biking, camping, gardening, and racing RC cars. She was also a gifted artist who found solace in drawing. Yet above all, Stacey’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend whose laughter could light up any room and whose sense of humor made even the hardest days brighter. One of her favorite songs was Old Blue Chair by Kenney Chesney.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Dekun; her cherished daughters, Emma and Abigail; her beloved mother, Pamela (Leonard) Kurzatkowski; her dear siblings, Megan (Kyle) Rhodes and Stephen Ruggs; grandmothers Betty Hanback and Susan Kurzatkowski; and her adoring nieces and nephews: Karmon, Kendall, Bentley, Isiah, Tylan, Alayna, Ethan, and Layla. She will also be missed by countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who were lucky enough to know her warmth and spirit.

Stacey was joyfully reunited in Heaven with her father, Richard Ruggs, and her beloved grandpa Poppy Bill.

Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 2-8pm at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Michigan 48026. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 11am at the funeral home with additional visitation beginning at 10am.
