Judith Ann "Judy" Smith, age 80, of Little Chute, passed away peacefully in the early morning of April 23, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.  Judy was born December 8, 1944 in Appleton to the late Serafin "Pete" and Margaret Babauta.  She spent much of her childhood in both Key West and Pensacola, Florida where her father was stationed in the Navy.  The family moved back to Little Chute when Judy was in the 8th grade.  She graduated from St. John's High School in 1963.

On November 11, 1965, Judy married the love of her life and soulmate, Larry Smith.  They enjoyed nearly 40 years of marriage until Larry's passing in 2005.  Together they raised their 3 sons, Chris, Todd, and Eric.  When the boys were all in school, Judy rejoined the workforce as a checker at Pick N' Save in Appleton.  She later worked in the research and testing lab at Kimberly Clark where she eventually retired in 2017.  In her younger years, Judy enjoyed bowling and line dancing with Larry and their close group of neighborhood friends.  Additionally she enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, going to lunch with friends, and shopping, especially Christmas shopping.  Judy was active in the lives of her grandchildren attending many games, concerts, recitals, and plays.

Judy leaves behind 2 sons, Chris (Laura) Smith, Little Chute, Todd (Michelle) Smith, Kimberly, grandchildren Kadie Smith, Ashley Smith, Rachel Smith, Kristin Smith, Makayla (Isaac) Wiegand, Daisy Sinclair, and Madilyn Benson Smith.  Other survivors include sisters-in-law Florentina Babauta, Cynthia Terry, and Darlene Smith, niece Heather (Ted) Heilman, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to Larry and her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her son, Eric, brother David Babauta, Larry's parents Paul and Helen Smith, Larry's siblings Carolyn Elmer, Paul "Sonny" Smith, Linda Smith, and  Ken Smith, and a brother-in-law Bill Terry.

Visitation for Judy will be Tuesday April 29, 2025 at Verkuilen-VanDeurzen funeral home, 101 Canal St., Little Chute from 4pm - 7pm, and again on Wednesday April 30, 2025 at St. John Nepomucene church, 411 Vandenbroek St., Little Chute from 9:30am-11am with funeral liturgy at 11am with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating.  Interment will be at. St. John's Cemetery, Little Chute.
