Tina Piscitelli-Garvey Obituary

Tina Piscitelli-Garvey, 65, of Paterson, NJ, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with COPD.

Tina was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and a cherished sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her beloved husband, Christopher Garvey; her daughter, Tina Garvey-Schwindt, and son-in-law Aaron Schwindt; her son, Steven Garvey, and his partner Kristina Taintor and her son Wayne Buckowski; and her treasured grandchildren, Jolie, Joey, and Eli.

Tina was also joyfully anticipating the birth of her newest granddaughter, soon to be welcomed by Steven and Kristina. Though she passed just weeks before the baby’s arrival, her heart was full of excitement and love for the little one she longed to meet.

She was predeceased by her beloved son, Joseph Balough, whom she loved deeply and missed every day.

Tina is also lovingly remembered by her stepdaughters, Chris T Ann Garvey and Carol Garvey-Varec, and stepson Christopher Garvey Jr., and their children, whom she cherished as her own grandchildren.

Tina was one of seven siblings. She is survived by her sisters: Eleanor Piscitelli (Steven Chodakowsky), Marcie Roberts (Kenneth Roberts), Marian Brockmann (Douglas Brockmann), Laura Agnoli (Christopher Agnoli), and Pamela Lewis (Joseph Lewis). She was also predeceased by her brother, Frank Piscitelli, and his late wife, Claire Piscitelli.

Tina was preceded in death by both of her parents, Frank Piscitelli and Eleanor Piscitelli—her mother passing just last year after living with Tina for many years, a bond that brought deep closeness and comfort.

Tina had a heart that embraced everyone. She loved and was loved by many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her life. She loved the beach, found joy in flowers—especially carnations, which she requested in abundance for her funeral—and was sustained throughout her life by a deep and unwavering faith in the Lord.

Her warmth, resilience, and unconditional love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 1:00-3:00pm & 5:00-7:00pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Avenue, Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 10:30am at Holy Cross Church, 220 Browertown Rd., Woodland Park, NJ. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tina’s memory to a COPD foundation or a charity of your choice.
