Francisco Martinez, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away April 23, 2025, in Pageland, South Carolina, at the age of 91. Francisco was born on March 28, 1934, in Mexico City, Mexico.

Francisco was the beloved husband of Ana Maria Martinez for 57 wonderful years. They met in Mexico City while Ana was on vacation and they married two years later. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. Together, they built a life filled with joy and the laughter of children. Francisco was a devoted father to his children Francisco Martinez II (Debbie) of Las Vegas, NV, his daughter, Tricia Hutchens (Tony) of Kershaw, SC and Jose Martinez (Jessica) of Pageland, SC. He instilled in them the values of hard work, compassion, and the importance of family.

He was a loving brother to his sisters, Elena Rodriguez of Arizona, Meche Rodriguez, and Margarita Rodriguez, both of Mexico. His role as a brother was characterized by his protective nature and his unwavering support.

Francisco's legacy includes his adored grandchildren, Brandon Hutchens (Arianna) of Waxhaw, NC, Amber Hutchens of Kershaw, SC, Tyler Hutchens of Kershaw, SC, Carla Martinez of Las Vegas, NV, and Christian Martinez of Las Vegas, NV and Roman Martinez of Pageland, SC. His great-grandchildren, Natalia Hutchens, Elianna Hutchens, twins Camden and Dawson Hutchens, Alivia Hutchens, Dennis Pyzon, Sierra Kilby, and Kendelle Kilby, will remember him for his stories, his laughter, and the gentle wisdom he imparted.

Francisco was predeceased by his parents, Bernardo Martinez and Damiana Rodriguez his beloved grandson, Matthew Joseph Hutchens, grandson, Francisco Martinez III, and five siblings.

A man of many interests, Francisco's love for poker, puzzles and Sudoku was surpassed only by his passion for dancing. Francisco was also an avid soccer fan, cheering on his favorite teams with the same fervor he devoted to every aspect of his life. His presence at his grandchildren's games was a source of joy not only for him but for all who knew him.

He was the first of our Martinez-Rodriguez family to make it to the United States legally, went through all the steps and became naturalized, and carved the path for his sister, and cousins to come for a better future. An immigrant from Mexico in 1967 at the age of 33 he made the trek with virtually no money, uprooted from Mexico City leaving everyone and everything behind to start a better life. He became an American Citizen and contributed to this land by giving 20+ years to LAUSD and retiring with a pension. He is living a retirement most American born citizens don’t have, debt free, all from hard work. He is the King of our USA Martinez-Rodriguez family, as not only did he come here for the American dream and obtain it, he gave the gift to his sister and cousin getting them here legally along with their kids. He helped them kick off their American dreams as he will help anyone, no questions asked! This man Francisco Martinez is a true textbook definition of a Father.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Baumgartner Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Baumgartner Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with Pastor Charles McAteer officiating. Burial to follow at Blackmon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer Association, 4600 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28209.

Hombre de múltiples intereses, la pasión de Francisco por el póker, los rompecabezas y el sudoku solo era superada por su pasión por el baile. Francisco también era un ávido aficionado al fútbol, animando a sus equipos favoritos con el mismo fervor que dedicaba a cada aspecto de su vida. El servicio fúnebre de Celebración de Vida se llevará a cabo el sábado 3 de mayo de 2025 en la Funeraria Baumgartner a la 1:00 p. m., oficiado por el pastor Charles McAteer. El entierro se realizará a continuación en el Cementerio Blackmon.
