Dorothy Lee “Dot” (Adcock) Ragland, 79, of Buckingham, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at her home.

She was born on July 5, 1945, in Albemarle County, a daughter of the late William White and Eva Walker (Londeree) Adcock.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis Jackson “Jack” Ragland, Sr.; a son, Francis Jackson “F.J.” Ragland, Jr.; and four sisters, Maude A. Shepherd, Ressie A. Davis, Mary Ester Brown, and Marie A. Humphreys.

Dot was very active in her community.  She was a member of the Buckingham Senior Group; served as a member of the Glenmore Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary; and was an active member of Glenmore Community Church. 

Dot retired from Jefferson National Bank (now Truist) after 40 years of service, during which time she made many lifetime friends.  She always enjoyed spending time with friends and family, including her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly and looked forward to supporting.  While family was important to Dot, her relationships with neighbors and friends in the community were also very special.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Brianna Elaine Vetrano (Joshua), and Cameron Jackson Ragland (Marika); two great-grandchildren, Peyton Corrine Ragland, and Carson Jackson Ragland; one sister, Anne A. Timberlake (Tim); two brothers-in-law, Hugh Brown, and Gene Ragland (Joan); and four sisters-in-law, Shirley Hooker, Barbara Hackett, Vernelle Agee, and Hazel Ragland, 

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at  Glenmore Community Church by Pastor Russell Snoddy.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Glenmore Community Church, 117 Ivy Road, Howardsville, VA  24562 or a charity of your choice.
