Karen M. Gulotta Obituary

Karen M. Gulotta, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on September 4, 1946, in Staten Island, NY, where she lived her entire life, Karen was a shining example of love, creativity, and selflessness.

Karen met the love of her life, Joseph Gulotta, and together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. Karen embraced her roles in life with grace, becoming a loving wife to Joseph, a devoted mother to their sons, Joseph and Vincent, and a second mother to Andrea and Adriana Gulotta. There were no individual successes, personally or professionally, that she did not have a hand in helping her family achieve. As an NYPD family, Karen helped guide two successful NYPD careers, one of her husband and the other of her son, the current Chief of Transit in the NYPD. She was always present, providing support, guidance, and sage advice and wisdom that can only come with many years of being an NYPD wife and mom.

As a family woman, Karen always put her loved ones first. Her grandchildren, Joseph, Giuliana, Angelina, and Vincent, fondly remember her as the best grandma anyone could ask for. She was an unwavering force in their lives, showering them with affection and wisdom and always having some treat to enjoy together. She was their biggest fan and will leave her grandchildren better for having her in their lives. Grandma left behind a treasure trove of photos, scrapbooks, and memories they will cherish forever.

Karen possessed an incredible sense of style and a wardrobe to match. She was an expert homemaker whose touch transformed every space into a warm and welcoming environment, using her flair and eye for the eccentric. Her home was not only a reflection of her impeccable taste but also a hub of deep love, where family, including her beloved Maximus Von, was always received with open arms.

An avid reader, Karen found joy and solace in the pages of her favorite novels. Her curiosity and passion for literature were infectious, inspiring those around her, including her granddaughter Giuliana, to explore new worlds through the written word. She was equally known for her sharp wit and unbelievably sharp memory, ensuring that laughter and memories were a constant in the lives of those she touched.

Karen's candor and ability to speak her mind were legendary. She approached life with honesty and integrity, never shying away from expressing her thoughts and feelings. Her straightforwardness was tempered by a deep sense of compassion, making her advice and opinions all the more valuable to those fortunate enough to receive them. This was true right to the end.

Her family carries on her legacy of selflessness and love, honoring her memory through their actions and the values she instilled in them. Karen's impact on the world was as beautiful and profound as the life she led. All who knew and loved her will profoundly feel her absence, yet her spirit will remain an ever-present guide in their hearts.

Karen will be remembered not just for the roles she played but for the person she was—engaging, incredibly intelligent, vibrant, and generous beyond measure. She leaves a legacy of enduring love and the profound influence she had on everyone privileged to be a part of her life.

As we bid farewell to Karen M. Gulotta, we celebrate her remarkable life and the countless ways in which she enriched our world. She will be deeply missed, and her memory will be cherished, for she was truly one of a kind.

Services will be held to honor Karen's life and legacy, and details will be shared with friends and family. Her journey on this earth has ended, but the stories, lessons, and love she shared will forever remain with us. Rest in peace, dear Karen, until we meet again.
