Ida Virginia Griffis, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 23, 2025, at Berea Health and Rehab in Fredericksburg, VA. A devoted servant of God, she lived a life rooted in faith and unwavering trust in Him.

Born on September 15, 1943, Ida was a lifelong resident of Stafford County. She graduated from Stafford High School in 1961 and retired in 1996 after a dedicated 35-year career as a civil service office worker at Quantico. Her love for Scripture guided much of her life, and she found joy in reading and studying the Bible. In her earlier years, she was deeply involved in her church community, teaching both women and children.

Ida had a wide range of interests that reflected her warm and thoughtful nature. She enjoyed word searches, stamp collecting, sewing, gardening, writing poetry, and researching her family history. She cherished time with her loved ones and often hosted tea parties for the elderly, sharing her kindness with all who knew her.

Ida is survived by her stepfather, Earl “Ralph” House; daughter, Juanita Wiltshire (Dale); son, Jim Griffis (Robin); seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lois G. House and Ralph D. Chaffee; her beloved husband of 41 years, Linwood “Mann” Griffis; her son, Paul Griffis; an infant daughter; grandson, Hunter Griffis; sister, Lois “Anita” Brinlee; and brother, Ralph E. Chaffee.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg with Pastor Victor De La Ossa officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
