Jacob Benton Batton, Jr., 77 of Grafton passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at his home with his loving family and friends by his side. Jacob was born in Grafton on February 12, 1948, son of the late Jacob B. and Anna Grow Batton. Jacob is survived by his lovely wife, Linda Knotts Batton whom he married April 1, 2025.
Jacob was a graduate of Grafton High School, Class of 1967. He was a retired veteran of the Marine Corps with eight years of service. Jacob served in Vietnam and was injured to where he could no longer serve. He spent the rest of his life helping other veterans get their deserved benefits. Jacob was a life member of the American Legion, and life member of the DAV, Commander. He was a West Virginia Judge Advocate and service officer. Jacob was a Memorial Day Coordinator for many years and a Commander of Chapter 24 of the Grafton DAV. He liked to go camping and fishing with his grandson, Logan Westfall, who was his best friend. He loved to go out with his grandson, Jeremiah Knotts spending time with him and loved playing with his two babies, Hunter and Bryson Westfall. He loved to shoot guns with his son, Ben, David and Becky. He also loved to see Cheyenne Batton, granddaughter on special occasions.
In addition to his wife, Jacob is survived by son, Jacob (Ben) Batton (Becky); daughter, Tina Knotts (David), Linda Wagner (Justin), Suzanna, Jonathan (Chasity), Suzan and Amanda; many grandchildren he loved dearly; two brothers, Frank Batton (Marie), Roger Batton (Wanda Jo); one sister, Mary Bolyard; several nieces and nephews. He also had a dog who was his companion and friend named Max.

Family and friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 4PM until 7PM and Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 10:00AM until 1:00PM the hour of the funeral with Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating. Internment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the US Marine Corps Honor Guard and the Taylor County VFW Honor Guard.
