Anthony Caggiano, "Poppy”, a longtime resident of Yonkers, passed away peacefully on April 23rd 2025, at the age of 97.
Anthony loved his family, a great old movie, The Yankees, Frank Sinatra, and a delicious pasta dish. He taught all of his children and grandchildren to read, swim, drive a car, and that with enough perseverance anything can be fixed. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him for his wit, intelligence, and humor.
He served his country during World War II in Germany and assisted with the end of war clean up from 1945-1947.
Anthony was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose, whom he called his soulmate. They were married in 1951 until her death in 2022. He missed her everyday she was gone and still said she was the most beautiful woman he ever saw.
He is survived by his children, Raymond, Barbara, and Robert. His grandchildren. Angela, Anthony, and Dolly. His daughter-in-law Francine, his son-in-law Ron and his wife Monica; his grandson-in-law, Neal and future grandson-in-law, Chris. His nephew PJ and his wife Jill along with their children. He leaves behind many friends who all have incredible stories to share. And of course his favorites, his fuzzy grandchildren, Roxy, Truman, and Auggie.
The family will be holding a private memorial so please reach out to one of them for the time and date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anthony's memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
