Joe Ferrell Windham, Sr., 84, was called to the Lord on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. In his final days, Joe shared with his family, “I’m right with the Lord, and I’ve lived a good life. I have a wonderful wife, kids and grandkids. What more could I ask for?”
Joe was born March 19, 1941, in Greenville, Texas. He graduated from Italy High School in 1959. Joe honorably served in the United States Marine Corps, retired from the MKT Railroad, and finished his career at Dart Container in Waxahachie, Texas. He spent his retirement side by side with his wife of thirty-four years, Billye, who he loved dearly and demonstrated that love on a daily basis. Together they enjoyed traveling, camping, rodeo play days, and ensuring that they were at as many events for their grandkids as they could make. Joe was known for his mischievous smile, teasing demeanor, but most of all, for his deep love for his family.
Joe is survived by his wife, Billye Windham; his children, Joe Windham, Jr. and Andrea, Jody Windham, Tammy Compton and Ray, Traci Mills and Toby; grandchildren, Nicole Davis, David Wiggins, Heather Owens, Cassity Windham Odom and Casey, Courtney May, Drew Windham, Joseph Windham and Randi, Lindsey Shuart, Ty Windham and Laiken, and Brannon Windham; and great grandchildren, Madie, Wade, Aubrie, Cade, Grayton Joe, Walker Joe, Nash, Chase, Carter, Cash, Slayton, and Baby Windham.
Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Windham Morelock; father, Eric Windham; and brother, Don Windham.
Joe will be laid to rest at a graveside service on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Italy Cemetery in Italy, Texas.
