It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Curtis Kelly Jackson, a beloved father, husband, and friend. Kelly passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23rd, at the age of 81.
Born on October 13, 1943, Kelly was a person of great character and integrity. He attended college at Denver University, where he laid the foundation for a remarkable career. After college, he moved to Oklahoma City where, at a square dance of all places, he met the love of his life, Kathy Duerksen. Together, Kelly and Kathy raised three children: Katy, Amy, and Brian. Kelly worked for more than 30 years as a civilian employee at Tinker Air Force Base, where he made dozens of lifelong friends. Throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. Kelly was known for his dedication to family, always putting loved ones first and creating a home filled with love and warmth.
Kelly had a passion for OU football and cherished attending his grandchildren’s activities. He also sang in the choir at the First Methodist Church of Moore for many years, sharing his love for music and faith with the community. He was incredibly proud of his children and was always asking if others knew how great his kids are! Kelly was also an incredible uncle who was loved by his nieces and nephews. After the loss of Kathy, Kelly was always asking if she knew how much he loved her, how much she meant to him. Well, the wondering is over. You two are holding one another and she’s telling you now. Never has there been a more devoted Husband, Father, Son, or friend.
Kelly is survived by his daughter Katy Gerner and husband Jimmy of Norman, OK; daughter Amy Ealey of Moore, OK; son Brian Jackson and wife Julie of Moore, OK. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Brett Graham, Avery Ealey, Isabella and Sophia Jackson. Additionally, Kelly is survived by his three sisters: Elizabeth Duncan of Norman, Elaine Jackson of Temple, Texas, and Edwina Jackson of Anchorage, Alaska. The Jackson family would like to especially recognize Kristi Jo Dover, who was Kelly and Kathy’s caretaker and provided them with the same love and care as if they were her own parents. She is a true Angel on Earth. Kristi - we love you! The love and wisdom shared by Kelly will remain in our hearts forever. He now joins the love of his life, Kathy, in Heaven.
Burial will take place at a later date. Please contact the family for more information.
