Bobby Joe Martin, age 91, husband of Lena Carr Martin, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2025. He was born in Bullskin, Ky. on January 10, 1934, to the late James Madison Martin and Sally Barger Cooper.

Joe was a 1952 graduate of Oneida Baptist Institute and was a United States Army veteran. He worked as a Kentucky state police radio operator, for Armco Steel, General Telephone, and in the insurance industry before retiring in 1999 from Ohio Casualty after 29 years of service. He was a member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters-in-law Houston (Christine), and Hubert (Hazel); and grandson Dustin Votaw. In addition to Lena, his wife of 36 years, he is survived by daughters Julie (John) Jakway, and Susan (Tim) Abner; stepdaughters Pam (Mark) Aldridge, and Penny Mullins. He is also survived by grandchildren Brandan (Shane) Gravitt, Nathan Aldridge, Logan (Nerissa) Abner, Travis (Cecilia) Votaw, Katie Aldridge, and Janie Aldridge; 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was a past member of Oleika Temple, Oleika Band, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Power Squadron, Kentucky Horse Shu Kru and Kentuckiana Travelers motorhome groups. He proudly served as President of the Lafayette High School Band Parent's Association, whose members included his children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Joe and Lena enjoyed houseboating, traveling and camping in their motor home, and time spent at their home in Leesburg, Fl. He loved spending time with his family, and especially cherished when they all gathered at their home each year on Christmas Eve.

Services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, visitation will be from 12:30-2:30PM. followed by the funeral service at Kerr Brothers funeral home on Harrodsburg Road. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
