Mrs. Ophelia B. "Phyllis" Starnes Obituary

Mrs. Ophelia “Phyllis” Starnes, 91, of North Augusta, SC, wife of the late Joseph E. Starnes, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.


A longtime resident of Aiken County and the Metro Atlanta, GA, area, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Birdie Elizabeth Butler Ennis. Atlanta Machine Works formerly employed her.


A devout Christian, Miss Phyllis often found herself submerged in HIS word. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, camping, and horseback riding.


Miss Phyllis is survived by a daughter, Frances Nappier (Barry) Koon, brother, Clemson Ennis, Sr., daughter-in-law, Kathy Williams, grandchildren, Dr. Travis Wiggins, Kimberly P. (Hugh) Hibbard, Erika (Todd) Anderson, Chad Williams, and Hope Williams, several great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives.


Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Laura Ann Nappier, a son, Tommy Williams, brothers Randy Ennis, Eddie Ennis, and Jimmy Ennis, and infant siblings.


The family will greet friends on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 1 o’clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2 o’clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service.


The family sincerely appreciates the loving and excellent care provided to Miss Phyllis by NHC and Caris Hospice.
