After graduating high school, Frank went on to get his business degree in 1964 from Central Missouri State University. He then went on to Gupton - Jones College of Mortuary Science in Dallas, where he got his diploma in Mortuary Science.
After graduation Frank started and staffed Peterson Funeral Chapel. He also operated Peterson Ambulance Service until 1984. Frank took an opportunity to work his way out to Colorado where he went on to become the general manager of Olinger Funeral Home and Martin Funeral Home in Grand Junction. Frank then worked his way to Arizona where he managed Bring mortuaries and was awarded “Arizona’s Funeral Director of the Year” before retiring. Frank decided to spend his retirement back here in Aurora, Missouri to be around his family. Frank would spend the remainder of his life helping Kerry out at the funeral home and visiting with the families that came in.
Frank had plenty of hobbies that kept him busy outside of work. He was an avid fisherman and we all know if you asked him a question about fly fishing you were prepared to sit there and listen to him tell you all about it. Frank was a part of the MAKO fly fishers club. If you didn’t see Frank at Roaring River there was a good chance you would catch him at Honey Creek Golf Course golfing with his friends or family.
Frank played baseball, football, basketball and track. Frank played a big role in Aurora, he coached Aurora Legion baseball & football; was a member of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Linda Peterson of the home; two sons, Kerry Peterson of Aurora, Missouri and Kirk Peterson of Nixa, Missouri; one sister, Jeanne (Larry) Cork; Five grandchildren, Dallas (Brett) Peterson, Haden Peterson, Rilan Peterson, Easton Peterson and Ella Mercer; along with his great grandson, Knox Peterson.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 1-2:00PM in the Aurora United Methodist Church. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like garden plants. Frank was always ready to get outside and start his garden.
