Barnes, Ian Hal “Sam”, 60, Windber, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born March 2, 1965 in Windber. Preceded in death by father, Robert Barnes Sr.; and by sister, Buffy Barnes. Survived by loving wife, Sharon M. (Maurizio) Barnes; sons, Ronald “Ronnie” Barnes; and Derek Barnes; cherished grandchildren, McKenna Barnes, Olivia Barnes and Quinton Barnes; mother, Shirley (Esh) Barnes; beloved in-laws, Ron and Pauline Maurizio whom Sam considered his parents. Sam will be missed by his siblings, Robert “Spud” Barnes Jr. (Donna); Jackie Barnes; Shawn Barnes; Tyra Barnes; DeAnna (Shawn Collins); Eric Barnes; Dustin Barnes; and Nick Barnes (Stacy); along with numerous nieces and nephews. Sam was a 1983 graduate of Johnstown Vo-Tech, he was a proud and skilled carpenter, a member of Local Union 423, a true craftsman at heart. Sam had a kind and generous nature, always there to meet the needs of family and friends, if asked to renovate, repair or simply lend a helping hand, Sam showed up without hesitation. His incredible talent and positive attitude earned him the friendship and respect of many. An avid outdoorsman, Sam found joy in hunting and fishing, especially at his favorite spots: the Windber Sportsman’s, Clearfield Hunting Camp and camping along the Juniata River. He and Sharon also shared a passion for motorcycles, often hitting the road together and creating memories with close friends. He leaves behind family and friends, enriched by his warmth and unwavering loyalty. Sam will be forever missed. Sam was a faithful life member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of Windber.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 27th at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home of Windber, from 2:00 p.m. to time of Service to begin 6:00 p.m. with Fr. Rod, officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Rose Garden Columbarium at All Faiths Chapel, Mausoleum & Cemetery, Richland Township. In lieu of flowers, (PLEASE OMIT FLOWERS) (DUE TO FAMILY ALLERGY) memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
