Richard Wayne Dambacher, 79 of Virginia, passed away April 23, 2025, at Stone Bridge Memory Care of Jacksonville. He was born on November 11, 1945, the second son of Charles and Mary Sias Dambacher. He married Beverly Schultz on September 17, 1965, and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2015.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Lori) Dambacher, Melissa Dambacher, Matthew (Gina) Dambacher; Grandchildren, Kimberly Brooks, Matthew Dambacher, Stephanie (Stephen) Stout, Megan (Conner) Schroeder, Ryan Platt, Taylor Platt, McKenna Leonard, Annika Vanderveer, Lauryn (Dylan) Kavish, Matalyn Dambacher, Sofia Dambacher, several great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Dambacher.
In addition to his wife, Beverly, Richard is preceded in death by one brother, Charles Dambacher.
Richard loved sharing time with his children and grandchildren, family gatherings, mushrooming, collecting coins, finding arrowheads, traveling the USA, and working on his farm. He graduated from Oakford Grade School, Virginia High School, and Hardin Business College. Richard was a Vietnam veteran from 1966-1967. He was also a 44-year employee of Mobil Chemical Co. of Jacksonville, later Reynolds, where he worked his way up to head scheduler in the West Plant.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home of Beardstown. Burial will follow the visitation at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the Cass-County Food Pantry. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
