Norma Mae Fischer died on April 23, 2025, at Alliance Health Hospital in Durant, Oklahoma. She was born on September 19, 1936.

Norma was a lady everyone needed to know. She would do anyting for you with no regrets. She was a good friend and neighbor to all. Norma lived in Indiana with her husband Bob Fischer and son Chris for several years. Norma married Bob when she was 14 years old. They moved to Chandler, OK for several years. Norma started working for DHS while she lived in Chandler, OK. Chris started school and graduated from there. Then they moved to Durant, OK, where she continued working for DHS and later retired from there.

Bob and Norma were married for several years before ending in divorce. When Norma moved back to Durant, OK she met Lonnie Anderson and they married and were together around 20 years before Lonnie passed away. Chris had moved to Florida and Norma stayed in Durant for a while then moved to Florida to be with her son and wife (Debbie). She lived there for about five years and moved back to Durant till her final day. Norma and Helen Metcalf became very good and close friends over the years. One minute they were mad at each other and the next they were best of friends. Norma became part of Helen’s family, attending holiday get togethers.

Norma was a Christian lady and had the Lord with her at all times. She attended church at Grace Baptist Church in Durant under Brother Anthony Williams for several years. Norma loved that place along with all the church members. Anyone who would listen to her, she would tell you all about the Lord Jesus Christ and everything he had done for her. Norma knew the bible and knew it well.

Norma had a stroke one night that ended her up at Oak Ridge Nursing Center and lived there for two years and two months till her passing. Norma lived a good Christian life and she was ready to go home and meet her Jesus.

Norma leaves behind her son Chris and wife from Indiana, and good friend Helen Metcalf from Durant, OK.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Grace Baptist Church with Brother Anthony Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
