Alberta Jones Obituary

Mrs. Alberta Cameron Ogletree Jones, age 105, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, in Trotwood, OH.  Her remaining family affectionally addressed her as Mom, Granny, Aunt Bert, Cousin Bert, or Bert.

She was born on June 19, 1919 in LaGrange, Georgia, and was the seventh of ten children born to the late Phillip Cameron, Sr. and Ada Cunningham Cameron.  In addition to her parents, each of her siblings preceded her in death:  Lovejoy, Jasper, Sr., Corine, Marie, Carrie, Addie Mae, Elijah Sr., Phillip Jr., and Waverly Sr. She confessed Christ as her savior at an early age and was baptized into the Church of Christ faith, where her spiritual journey began and continued.  Alberta loved God.  She lived a Christian life and strived to be a better Christian each day throughout her life.  At her passing, she was a member of Bold Believers Church of Christ in Dayton, OH, where she attended faithfully until her health prevented her from doing so.

Alberta was married to George Ogletree, who preceded her in death.  They were blessed with a loving son, Carl Michael “Mike” Ogletree; two grandsons, George M. Ogletree and Christopher L. Ogletree; one great-grandson, Christopher M. Ogletree. She later was blessed to marry William Jones, who also preceded her in death.

Some of Alberta’s hobbies included gardening and traveling.  During her lifetime, she traveled to Israel, Egypt, Greece, The Holy Land, Canada.  Additionally, she visited over 37 states throughout the United States.  She enjoyed keeping abreast of current events, and would happily engage in informed conversations, dialogs and discussions with several of her nieces and nephews.  When Alberta spoke, people listened.  She was willing to share her true feelings on any topic or subject, and the relatives and friends she shared them with knew and understood that they were in the presence of wisdom that had been in the making for over 10 decades, which few people are fortunate enough to experience.  She loved speaking to family members over the phone, and she especially enjoyed when they visited her in person.

Alberta was loved and respected by many, many people, who must now find solace in cherishing her memory.  She will be remembered for her warm and kind voice, her infectious smile, her giving nature, and as an informed member of her community, among other things.

In addition to her son, grandsons, and great-grandson, Alberta is survived by and will be missed by generations of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, church members, friends, acquaintances, and special friend Mary Clark, who made home-cooked meals for her, sat with her, and helped her in so many ways.

At the blessed age of 105, the matriarch of our family, Mrs. Alberta Cameron Ogletree Jones, has been called home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a lifetime of faith, love, and treasured memories.
