Robert Leon Webster Obituary

Robert Leon Webster, 88, returned to his Father in Heaven on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, after 4 years of fighting with cancer. He is now reunited with family on the other side.


Robert (Bob) was born in Litchfield, Minnesota, USA on October 21,1936 to Hazel (Cassady) and Wendell Webster as the second of three sons. His family moved to California when he was about 5 years old where he had a significant experience of nearly drowning and seeing Jesus Christ in the water and determining to serve Him the rest of his life. Bob’s family spent time in California and Billings, MT. He attended college at UCR, Cal-Poly-Pomona, BYU, and Utah State earning BS degree in Forestry and Range Management. He enjoyed playing football and basketball for UC-Riverside (class of ’59) and watched sports live and televised as often as he could.


Robert met the woman of his dreams, Donna Joy Jolley of Salt Lake City and they were married on September 20,1962 in the Logan, Utah temple. Together they raised 9 children on goat’s milk, home-made whole wheat bread, home-grown bottled and canned food in Idaho Falls and Ammon, Idaho. The children they filled their home with include Angella Joy (Bennett), Monte, April (Johnson), Bart, Ryan, Forrest, Russell, Heather (Stevenson), and Barry. They enjoyed a small homestead complete with cold Idaho winters, goats, chickens, rabbits and a large garden.


Bob was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at about 21 years old and served a 30-month LDS mission to Uruguay and Paraguay. Missionary work continues to be one of his great passions. He and Donna served several LDS missions together one in Forestry in the Church’s forest lands and one to the Dominican Republic to copy genealogy records.


Bob’s many callings in church include Sunday School Teacher, Branch President, Stake and Ward MIA presidency, Seventies Group Leader, Stake Mission Presidency, Stake Executive Secretary, Stake Communications and Athletic Director and Ward Speech Specialist. He participated in many church and community musical and dramatic productions (Henry Higgens in My Fair Lady), dance festivals, scouting, choirs, quartets, trios, duets and solos.


Bob enjoyed volunteerism in many forms, church service, temple service, Adopt-a-Grandparent, Thanksgiving Point, city services, and politics. He and Donna enjoyed many of these volunteer activities together including square dance teams, choirs, duets, and youth leadership. His other hobbies include athletics, college sports, gardening, telling jokes, constitutional studies, politics, creation studies, writing poetry (including family Christmas letter), golfing, fishing, hiking, camping, rewriting lyrics to popular songs, broadcasting, teaching, writing and genealogy.


Employment experiences for Bob include paper route, farm hand, waiter/dishwasher, lawn mowing, gas station attendant, Angeles Nation Forest Fire Crew, machinist aid (Douglas Aircraft), construction, many years as a Forest Ranger and Public Information Officer, substitute teacher (pre-algebra), bus driver, Janitorial, Fireplace sales (ELCO), radio sales/broadcasting, life insurance sales, Mead Johnson medical sales, Electrolux sales, warehouse, Env. Health specialist, District 7 Health Department Idaho Falls, and Utah County Health Dept.


Robert is Survived By his wife, Donna Webster; children, Angella Joy, Monte (Maurine), April Johnson (Dana), Ryan (Sherri), Forrest (Olga), Russell (Amber), Heather Stevenson (Dan), & Barry (Emily); 32 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son, Bart Webster; parents, Hazel Cassady and Wendell Webster; and brother, Jerry Webster.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Timpanogos 2nd Ward chapel located at 800 N 100 W, Pleasant Grove, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior to the service from 12:00 to 12:45 pm. Interment to follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery (northwest section) across from the Webster home and Chapel.
