Nezneski, June Marie – 86 of Portage, passed away on April 23, 2025 in Portage. She was born on March 6, 1939 in Portage. June was the daughter of John “Jay” and Mary (Smindak) Nezneski. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law: Edward and Emilie (Pascovich) Nezneski, her sister: Audrey Benton, sister-in-law: Albina “Beena” Nezneski and her aunt: Olga Smindak.

June Marie is survived by her brother: John “Bucky” Nezneski and her brother-in-law: Francis “Fran” Benton. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Lisa, Celeste, Patrice, Kimberly, John, Natalie, Laura and Rebecca and numerous great nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

June was the owner of June Marie’s Beauty Salon in Portage. At the age of 20, She established the Salon in April of 1959 and continued operations until her retirement. June took great pride in her work making sure that you felt like a “million bucks” before you left her salon and that you were the most important person in her chair. The sign above her shop door said “Through these doors pass the most beautiful women in the world.” 

When June wasn’t at work, she was often found attending her nieces and nephews special events or cheering them on in all their important accomplishments in life. She was more than an Aunt, she was their friend, their confidant and one of their biggest supporters. June was a wonderful friend to so many and a loving daughter, sister, aunt and great aunt. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was a faithful parishioner of Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church.

All are invited to attend Divine Liturgy at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Portage, Fr. James Spontak, Celebrant. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.decortfh.com
