Roger P. Huber Obituary

Roger P. Huber, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coach, and lifelong farmer, went to his heavenly home on April 23, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on August 15, 1947, Roger was the son of the late Philip and Mary (Schuchardt) Huber. He grew up on the family farm in Arenac County, where he learned the value of hard work, community, and a deep connection to the land—lessons that would guide him throughout his life. He spent most of his life in Twining, MI, before moving to Au Gres, MI, where he lived for the past 12 years.

After graduating from Arenac Eastern High School, Roger began his college education at Delta College, where he met his future wife, Vicki (Sieggreen) Huber. He later transferred to Central Michigan University, where he earned a teaching degree. Together, Roger and Vicki shared 54 years of love, partnership, and mutual respect.

Roger dedicated 25 years to education as a teacher at Arenac Eastern, where he inspired generations of students with his patience, practicality, and dedication. He also served as a basketball coach, sharing his love for the sport with students on and off the court. After his teaching career, he spent several years as the Athletic Director, further contributing to the development of the school's sports programs and fostering a sense of teamwork and sportsmanship among students.

In addition to his work in education, Roger remained deeply committed to his roots as a farmer, tending the same land his parents once did and instilling those same values in his children. Roger was also heavily devoted to St. John Lutheran Church in Au Gres, MI, where he served as an Elder in the past and was the President, playing an integral role in the life of the congregation.

A man of quiet strength and steady kindness, Roger was known for his integrity, his willingness to lend a hand, and his deep love for his family. He was a devoted grandfather, affectionately called "Papa Bee" by his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and laughter. Roger also had a lifelong love of the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter—finding peace and pride in the traditions of the woods each season. Whether working in his shop, planting in the fields, or enjoying a Sunday afternoon surrounded by loved ones, he cherished the simple, meaningful rhythms of life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Vicki; their children, Byron (Karen), Jason (Kari), and Ryan (Molly); and thirteen grandchildren—Drew, Tyler, Grant, Anna, Henry, Ella, Silas, Jace, Madeline, AJ, Micah, Keziah, and Joseph. He is also survived by his sister, Karen (Rich) Wlock; brother-in-law Dwight (Mary) Sieggreen; sister-in-law Charlotte Huber; and many nieces and nephews. Roger is remembered fondly by extended family, dear friends, former students, and neighbors whose lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Huber; his niece, Marcy Sieggreen; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Eleanor Sieggreen.
