On Wednesday, April 23, 2025 , our Heavenly Father sent his Celestial Angels to escort Anna Wowk into her Eternal Glory with Him in Heaven.

Anna was born in Komancza, Ukraine over 100 years ago on November 8, 1924, where she lived until she was taken to Germany during World War II for forced labor. After the war she was taken to a refugee camp in Rotenburg, where she met and married her husband Michael and gave birth to her eldest daughter Mary. In 1949 she emigrated with her husband and daughter to Toronto, Canada where she gave birth to her second daughter Dorothy. In 1955 she emigrated with her husband and two daughters to Syracuse, NY where she gave birth to her third daughter Natalie. Anna was very active in the Ukrainian community belonging to St John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ukrainian National Home, the Apostleship of Prayer where she was Honored with the title "Mother of the Year for 2003" and was a member of the Women's Organization for the Four Freedoms of Ukraine. You would always see her smiling face as a volunteer for pyrohy making at both the Church and the Club. Anna was predeceased by her husband Michael in 2000 and her daughter Dorothy in 1986. Anna is survived by her daughter Mary and son-in-law Nick Holl, her daughter Natalie and son-in-law Peter Rubacha and son-in-law Chuck Walden, 6 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home, 1609 W Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13204. The Apostleship of Prayer will recite the Rosary at 4:00 pm followed by a Panakhyda Service to be held at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 10:00 am in St John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 207 Tompkins St. Syracuse, NY 13204. Anna will be laid to rest at St John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery..
