Eleanor Welsh of Woonsocket, RI, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025. She was the wife of the late Raymond Welsh Sr. who passed in June of 2012.
Eleanor was born in Worcester on June 17,1933. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (McKay) Whalen.
Eleanor grew up in Dedham, MA and graduated from Dedham High School. She worked for over 30 years at Pondville and Southwood Hospital as a switchboard operator. In 1953 she married the love of her life, Raymond. Together they raised their five children in Wrentham.
Eleanor was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her children Donna Dwight and her husband Randy of Westerly, RI, Raymond Welsh Jr. and his wife Annette of Woonsocket, RI, Katherine Marino of Woonsocket, RI, and Robert Welsh of Vanceboro, ME. Also survived by her brother Paul Whalen of Vancouver, WA, her grandsons James Welsh, Christopher Welsh, Ryan Marino, Jacob Marino and her great grandchildren Kaelyn Welsh, Benjamin Welsh and Isabella Welsh.
She was predeceased by her son John Welsh and her siblings Joseph Whalen and Ann Hampton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9:30-10:45 AM at the R.J. Ross Funeral Home 135 South Street, Wrentham, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church, 130 South Street, Wrentham, MA. Burial will follow at Wrentham Center Cemetery, 56 Dedham Street, Wrentham, MA.
