Josephine S. Pareti Obituary

Josephine Pareti, a lifelong resident of Westchester County, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, NY. She was 88 years old.

Born on March 6, 1937, in Mt. Kisco, New York, Josephine was one of six children of Joseph and Theresa Stufano. She was raised in Silver Lake (West Harrison) and White Plains, where she graduated from White Plains High School. Shortly thereafter, she married the love of her life, Louis J. Pareti, with whom she shared 69 beautiful years of marriage.

Josephine's greatest joy was her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she dedicated her life to creating a warm, loving home. She is survived by her beloved husband, Louis, and her cherished children: Michael Pareti (Karen), Joanne Pinsker, Carolyn O’Connor (John), Theresa Murphy (Michael), and Linda Bernstein. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren—Michael Jr., Nichole, Kristen, and Thomas Pareti; Marisa, John Jr., and Christopher O’Connor; Meghan Bogucki; Ned and Rory Murphy; Samantha Weber; and Lauren Bernstein—as well as two great-grandchildren, Olivia Bogucki and Molly Murphy. She is also survived by her brother Edward Stufano (Stella) and many loving nieces and nephews. Josephine was predeceased by her siblings Grace Hanberry, Anna Broadway, Michael Stufano, and Mary John.

A woman of deep tradition, Josephine carried on the legacy of her Italian heritage through food and family. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she lovingly prepared Sunday dinners that brought generations together. These gatherings were more than meals—they were celebrations of love, tradition, and togetherness.

Josephine also had a deep passion for travel, which she shared with her sisters, children, and grandchildren. Her adventurous spirit took her to remarkable places around the world, including China, Germany, France, Ireland, Japan, and Hong Kong. Exploring the world brought her great joy—not just for the destinations, but for the memories made along the way with the people she loved. Whether it was a big family vacation or a quiet getaway, these shared adventures became treasured moments, filled with laughter, discovery, and togetherness. Traveling was more than a pastime for Josephine—it was a way to deepen the bonds of family and celebrate life’s journey side by side.

She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, adventurous spirit, and her unwavering dedication to family. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she kept, the meals she lovingly prepared, the journeys she shared, and the hearts she touched.

She was, and always will be, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
