Charles Carlton Sorce, 74, passed away after a brief illness on April 23, 2025 at Hamot Hospital.

He was born February 28, 1951 to Joseph James and Mary Virginia Sorce in Erie, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Strong Vincent high school in1969 and attended classes at Edinboro University and Gannon University.

Charlie has had many interests in his life but the three most important other than family and friends were farming and animals, classic automobile renovations, and the Insulation and Fireproofing business which he has been a part of since 1975.

As a child his family bought a farm in Fairview, PA where he spent summers until he was in his 20’s. He was always raising animals of all sorts as well as running Folly’s End Campground. He left there and went to work at the Spartan Inn where he managed the Wooden Horse Lounge. He next started Airtemp Insulation which concentrated on residential insulation & services, growing the business into Insulation Coatings and Consultants which has become one of the premier insulation and fireproofing businesses on the east coast.

He has purchased and refurbished dozens of automobiles over the last 50 years and won national awards for design and creativity. The most recent entry, a 1930 Rolls Royce that looks like it just rolled off the showroom. For all those who know the saying “they broke the mold when they created him” and knew Charlie, it is well understood that it applied to him.

He is survived by two brothers, Gregory and Christopher. His sister-in-law, Mary Ellen, his nephews, Tyler, Jared and Joseph, his niece Rachel, his dog Shep and many many friends.

Charlie’s friends are invited to a celebration of life on Saturday, July 5, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM at Pine Junction, 9757 Bailey Hill Rd., Sherman, NY., 14781.
