Mary Ann Cummings, affectionately known as ‘Slappy’, was born on January 24, 1953,in Clinton, North Carolina, to the late Robert Brunson and Mildred Raynor.She peacefully transitioned at the age of 72 on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in Decatur, Georgia, with her devoted husband of 26 years, David Cummings, by her side.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328. Rev. Bobby Lamb, officiating. Burial will follow in the Raynor Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 pm, prior to the service and other times at 701 Betty Street Clinton NC
Mary Ann was honored during her career at Hamilton Beach in Clinton, NC, where she was recognized for her exceptional dedication and contributions, earning the distinguished title of “Miss Hamilton Beach” before her retirement. Following her professional career, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, becoming a valued asset to several educational institutions.
A woman of faith, Mary Ann was a devoted member of The Israel of God Church of Decaur, Georgia, where she served faithfully.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Brunson and her brother, Jerry Rattley.
Mary Ann leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband: David Cummings, of the home; three loving daughters: Panithia Wilson of Stone Mountain, GA; Tonya Wilson (Darrin) of Ocala, FL; and Missy Melvin (Jaime) of Ocala, FL. She is also survived by her siblings: Charles Brunson (Sheila) of Clinton, NC; Patricia Arnette (Jeffrey) of Clinton, NC; and James Rattley (Julie) of Ocala, FL. She also leaves behind grandchildren: Byron Wilson, Saqoya Wilson, Kelahia Flowers, Darrin Flowers Jr., Jamyss Morales, Tatianna Morales, and Ja’mani Morales. Mary Ann was also blessed with five great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear freinds.
Her life, love, and legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.
