Roger is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Debra Beth, and his devoted daughter, Kirstin Ford (John Simonie). He was the son of the late Maurice Ford and late Jesse (Martinek) Ford, as well as his late sisters, Lynne (John) Malpeli, Donna Newmeyer, Andrea (James) Kennedy and late brother, Paul. He is also survived by his aunt, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Roger grew up in Dearborn and Livonia. He was a graduate of the University of Detroit Jesuit High School, and received a B.S. in Accounting from Detroit College of Business (Davenport University). He remained in the accounting field throughout his career.
Roger enjoyed spending time with family, with his buddies from the Shady Characters classic car club, walleye fishing in northern Canada, spending his childhood summers at the family cottage in Leamington, Ontario, adopting many rescue dogs, volunteering at St. Leo’s and All Saints soup kitchens, and doing pet therapy at various senior centers.
Roger will be remembered for his kindness to others. He was often referred to as “one of the good guys” by his many friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:30AM on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 25800 W 10 Mile Road in Southfield, Michigan. Please gather at the front gate of the cemetery by 11:15 AM and we will process to the chapel where Services will be held.
There will be a luncheon afterward at his home.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that a donation be made to Jewish Hospice and Chaplaincy Network, Temple Kol Ami Brotherhood, St. Williams Parish of Walled Lake, or the charity of one’s choice.
