Loretta B. Gibbs, 87 Loretta B. Gibbs, 87 of Ashland, formerly of Somerdale, New Jersey passed away, Monday, August 7, 2017 in her home at the Martin House. She was born on May 26, 1930 in Camden, New Jersey to the late Anthony and Pauline (nee Zebrowski) Sczalkowski. Loretta married Howard Gibbs on April 19, 1952. She was a homemaker all of her life. Loretta was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Ashland. Loretta was a Cub Scout leader and a member of the Alter & Rosary Society. She enjoyed walking and camping throughout her life; Loretta loved to sing, cooking, and animals. Along with her husband, Howard, they were members of the North South Skirmish Association, through the Square Circle Gun Club, an organization that performed reenactments portraying the Civil War. Many of these things were important to Loretta, although the most important thing was her beloved granddaughter Logan who was the light of her life. Having spent her summers with Logan they became very close and was known affectionately as “Babcia”. Loretta is survived by one daughter, Gloria Farley of Woodbury, New Jersey; one son, David (Tracy Lichtenfels) Gibbs of Polk; one granddaughter, Logan Farley of Woodbury, New Jersey; one sister, Elaine Ranck of Carneys Point, New Jersey; and one brother, Ervin Sczalkowski of Voorhees, New Jersey. In addition to her parents, Loretta is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Howard Gibbs who passed away, May 10, 2001. Funeral services will be held, Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 1515 Mifflin Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Reverend Kay Ashby officiating. Interment will be, Monday, August 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Blackwood, New Jersey. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 1515 Mifflin Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
