John Joel Perkins

John Joel Perkins, 76 of Pinehurst passed on Thursday, February 28th 2019 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. <br/><br/>A memorial service will be held 12PM Saturday, March 16th 2019 at Trinity Christian Fellowship Church in Pinehurst with Rev. Matt Stillman and Rev. Al Hill officiating. <br/><br/>Mr. Perkins was born December 30, 1942 in Orange, New Jersey to the late John and Autumn (Englert) Perkins and grew up in Erie, PA. He attended college at Cortland State and Gannon College in Erie, PA. After marrying the love of his life, Anne M. Perkins he joined and served in the US Army transferring to Italy where they enjoyed what seemed to be a three year honeymoon. He then transferred to Vietnam with the ASA receiving the bronze star for his service. After moving back to the United States he began working as a store manager for the F.W. Woolworth Company in various stores and locations. After leaving F.W. Woolworth he went on to become the regional manager for True Value Hardware in the Chicago Headquarters and worked for over 27 years. He and Anne moved to Pinehurst in 1998 and later retired in 2007. He was a founding member of the Trinity Christian Fellowship Church and a very dedicated volunteer. He enjoyed his beloved pets, computers, old movies, fishing, and camping. <br/><br/><br/>He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Anne M. Perkins; a sister, Dorothy Dennehy and brother, Daniel Perkins both of Massachusetts; four nephews, Kevin Dennehy, Brian Dennehy, Daniel Dennehy, and Michael Dennehy. <br/><br/>In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in memory of John Perkins to the Trinity Christian Fellowship Church or to the ASPCA by calling 1-800-628-0028.<br/><br/>Services are entrusted to Boles Funeral Home of Pinehurst.<br/><br/> <br/>

Dearest John, thank you so much for being a great friend and mentor. The good times we had around the campfires will never be forgotten. I am so sorry we lost touch the last couple of years. Rest in peace with Jesus. Anne, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
